Privacy Policy
The3DSearch
Effective 23 October 2026. Last updated 23 October 2026 — advertising added; the app now shows ads served by Google AdMob.
The short version
- There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no profile.
- Nothing about you is sent to the developer. There is no analytics, no crash reporting and no developer server.
- Your searches go straight from your phone to the model sites, which see them the way any website would.
- Saved models and recently viewed results stay on your device.
- The app shows one ad per list. Those ads come from Google AdMob, which reads your device's advertising ID; the developer never receives it, or anything else about you.
This policy explains what the The3DSearch Android app (mememe.ThreeDSearch) does with information when you use it. It covers the app only — not the websites it searches, which have their own privacy policies, and not the ads it shows, which are described below and governed by Google's policies.
What the app collects
The app collects no personal information for the developer. Specifically, it does not:
- ask for or store a name, email address, phone number or account of any kind;
- use analytics, attribution or crash-reporting services;
- access your contacts, photos, files, camera, microphone, or precise location;
- send your searches or saved models to the developer, because there is no server to send them to.
The only permission the app requests is access to the internet.
One part of the app does read a device identifier: the advertising SDK, which Google's AdMob runs. That is covered in Advertising and tracking below.
What is stored on your device
Two things are kept locally, in the app's private storage, and never uploaded:
| Saved models | The models you mark with the heart: their title, source site, thumbnail address and link. Kept until you remove them or uninstall the app. |
|---|---|
| Recent results | A short-lived cache of search results and model details — including the phrases you searched for — so switching screens does not re-download the same data. Entries expire after about 15 minutes. |
If you have Android backup enabled on your device, your system may include this app data in your own Google account backup. That backup is controlled by your Android settings, not by the app. You can erase everything the app stores at any time:
- removing saved models inside the app,
- clearing the app's storage in Android settings, or
- uninstalling the app.
Requests sent to the model sites
The3DSearch is a search browser. When you search or open a model, your device contacts the relevant platform directly and asks it for results. The app talks to:
| Printables | api.printables.com |
|---|---|
| MakerWorld | api.bambulab.com |
| Nexprint | www.nexprint.com |
| Thingiverse, Cults3D, Creality Cloud | three-drop.com, an aggregator that answers for these three |
| Thingiverse, Cults3D | www.thingiverse.com and cults3d.com, for model descriptions and galleries |
| Images | The image servers those platforms use, to display thumbnails |
Each request contains the search phrase you typed, or the identifier of the model you opened, plus whatever any internet request carries: your IP address and a generic browser-style user-agent string. The app sends a fixed, generic browser-style user agent that does not include your device model, name, phone number or account. The app sends no cookies and has no identifiers of its own to attach.
Those companies are independent of this app. They receive your request as a normal web request and handle it under their own privacy policies, which you should read if you want to know how they treat it. The3DSearch is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or acting on behalf of any of them.
Advertising and tracking
The app is free and supported by advertising. Google AdMob supplies the ads, and the bundle includes Google's Mobile Ads SDK to display them. There is still no analytics library, attribution tracker or crash reporter in the app.
Where ads appear:
- one card in a Discover rail,
- one card among the search results.
An ad card is drawn to look like the model cards around it and carries an Ad label and the AdChoices mark, so it is never mistaken for a result.
To serve and measure those ads the SDK sends requests to Google. Those requests can carry:
- your device's advertising ID (a resettable identifier that Android provides for advertising);
- your IP address, and the approximate location that can be inferred from it;
- device and app information such as the model, operating system version and the app's package name;
- which ad was shown and whether it was tapped.
It does not send your search phrases, your saved models, or anything else held inside the app.
Google handles that data as an independent advertising company, for ad delivery, measurement and fraud prevention, and shares it with advertisers and their partners under its own policies: Google's advertising policies and the Google Privacy Policy. The developer receives only aggregate reports — how many ads were shown and what they earned — never a record of who saw them.
Where the law requires it, Google asks for your consent to personalised advertising before serving such ads, and declines are respected. You can also control advertising identifiers at the system level at any time:
- Reset or delete your advertising ID in Android settings, under Google → Ads;
- Turn off personalised ads in the same place, which limits the use of your identifier for targeting.
Deleting the advertising ID does not remove ads from the app; it makes them less relevant to you.
Children
The app is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country) and does not knowingly collect information from them. It has no accounts and no user-generated content. Search results come from public model-sharing sites whose content is not curated for children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact the developer through the app's Google Play listing and it will be addressed.
Security
All requests the app makes use HTTPS. The app stores no passwords, tokens or payment details belonging to you, so there are no credentials on your device to be stolen from it. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but the app's design keeps the amount of data at risk close to nothing: it holds no personal data about you in the first place.
Your choices and rights
- Delete app data: individual saved models inside the app, or everything at once by clearing app storage or uninstalling.
- Control advertising: reset or delete your advertising ID, or turn off personalised ads, in Android settings under Google → Ads.
- Requests about your data: the developer holds no personal data about you, so there is no server-side record to access, correct or delete. Questions about this policy are welcome through the app's Google Play listing.
Changes to this policy
If the app's data practices change — for example if a feature is added that collects something new — this page will be updated and the date at the top changed. Material changes will also be noted in the app's store listing. Continuing to use the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
Contact
The way to reach the developer about this policy or the app's data practices is through the developer contact details on the app's Google Play listing: The3DSearch on Google Play.
